What goes around comes around

Hello, followers and others, who randomly stumbled on my blog!
I had planed an entierly diffrent idea for writing today. I wanted to type about the absurd nonsense of daily horoscopes, but after a few fail attempts to start transforming my thoughs on that topic into words on my computer screen, I gave up. Hopefully I will feel less blank-minded about that idea tomorrow.

In meanwhile there`s an other topic I feel I could write about today. It`s short of a continuation to the post about karma.

What goes around comes around
It`s a proverb.
It basically means that a persons actions, whether good or bad, will always have consequences for that person.
In my last post I explained what is the popular misconception of karma, well that is the right conception for what goes around comes around.
While karma is something one can only believe or not believe, this proverb can be determined to be true or untrue.
I personally find it quite well-grounded. Surely there are
exceptions, but commonly, this proverb seems to be true.
For an example, let`s say there is a random group of people, let`s say coworkers. Naturally, not all of them get along. They have their little conflicts, the backtalking - the normal stuff. Then a new coworker is hired. Let`s make it a her. Not that it matters. She is not a suck-up, but she acts good with everybody, tries to get along and is just bursting with positivity. Then naturally the others feel like they have to be good against her too. They would feel like it would be inappropriate to act any other way. And that`s how it works.
Of course, it works the other way around too.
Violence begets violence.

So what do you guys think? In your experience, is this saying rather true or untrue?

  1. I think it's true more times than not, can't be used as a general rule though I guess.

  3. Have to say the same thing I said about Karma. Though in this case it doesn't have to be mystic. It could just mean something like "If you are a dick to people, then they will be to you." That could be pretty sage advice. I would like it to be, but I'm not even sure that it's true. If the world made sense it would be, but things do seem a little nutty at times don't they?

  4. Yeah I think it's true in the example you gave, but in some cases it isn't true, I think. As mentioned though it's true more than not

  5. as per your example, no one wants to be mean to a nice person. That said, in other circumstances it doesn't always come around

  18. Hmmm well personally I don't believe in karma as I subscribe to the quantum theory where everything happens randomly and by probabilities, however I might be wrong. Nice blog by the way.

  22. I'm not big on Karma myself, but I think we do get what's coming to us if were terrible to those around us. I mean we can't expect them to be nice to us, if we aren't nice to them.

Either way, interesting thoughts here, keep it up!

  23. I have often pondered the truth of this theory. I have doubts, because I know a great many people who treat others like total and utter shit, yet they always come out on top. No matter how appallingly they behave, they are always OK. Nothing sticks to them, they're always winners! This bugs me a little!

In my own life, I like to treat others in the same manner in which I wish to be treated. More often than not, kindness begets kindness, but sometimes, other people tend to treat me like crap! I hate it when people tell me to fight fire with fire and treat them the way they treat me, because it's just not in me to stoop to their level and behave like a total cunt! It's like rolling around in the mud with a pig, you both get dirty, but the pig loves it!

Thanks for the birthday wishes. I also enjoy other people's birthdays more! Thanks also for the compliment! I developed that power-frown at the tender age of 3! I mastered the grumpy mug a few weeks later! :)

  24. I can agree with violence begetting violence, but taken at face value, there are good deeds that go unrewarded and bad deeds that go unpunished.

  25. Funny you should say that because I was just thinking about that this morning while talking to the new girl...

  26. I'd say that the proverb is about as useful as horoscopes.
